The Road Back

It is the six-year anniversary of the most difficult, traumatic, and painful days of my life. I lost my humanity and became a monster that did monstrous things. I completely lost myself in what I can only describe as an episode of mental annihilation. Only in hindsight, with a long and winding road behind me, does it seem that I had to lose myself to find my Self.
Maybe you have too?
Or maybe someone was lost from you?
I lost so much more than myself in those days. But much like my Self, I keep praying it was lost only to be found again. And it must be. It’s the only thing I am willing to believe. In the monomyth of “The Hero’s Journey”, after finding Self, the last stage of the journey is called the “Road Back Home”. And the Road Back home is the hardest part of the journey.
The Road Back Home
Can you hear me?
Don’t speak
Don’t speak no more
I can’t say nothing, say nothing, say nothing
Because you can’t hear me …
Let my eyes do the talking
Can you see me?
Don’t speak
Don’t speak no more
I can’t say nothing, say nothing, say nothing
Let my eyes do the talking
But you still won’t look at me…
Close my eyes and let my heart do the talking
Can you feel me?
Don’t speak
Don’t speak no more
I can’t say nothing, say nothing, say nothing
Close my eyes and let my heart do the talking
Can you feel me?
Will you feel me?
I know you feel me.
My heart is singing to you
It has never stopped
I love you
I have never not
