The Posture of Abundance (Money Included!)

“Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.”
— Wayne Dyer
Perhaps I will say this slightly different based on my own experience. Abundance is not something I need to build —it is a frequency I endeavor to align with. It is spiritual power versus a material force. Abundance is not out there waiting to be earned, chased, or deserved. It is already here, already broadcasting, and the only real question is whether I am tuned to receive it. AND — this would have sounded like complete nonsense to me a decade ago — today it is how I have positioned my entire life.
I think the word abundance creates a dilemma for both the materially oriented as well as the spiritually oriented. For the materialist, the word abundance can come across as “airy fairy”, particularly when they hear spiritual people use it. They assume it is not inclusive of money, and money is positioned as some barbaric and uncouth abomination of abundance — subservient to love, happiness, joy & peace. And I don’t think the materialists are wrong to assume that. I do think, for many spiritualists, the word abundance does break down with money: “The love of money is the root of all evil,” we are told — and they file money itself under evil and redefine abundance to mean everything else outside of money. But the saying is very precise — it says the love of money is the root of all evil. The problem was never the thing; it was our grasping relationship to the thing — that grasping is the frequency of scarcity. That single misreading has left a lot of good people at war with abundance, treating money as something dirty to tolerate rather than one more expression of a generous Universe.
The Posture: Abundance is your birthright, and money is part of it. It will flow to you the way everything else flows to you — once you stop damming the river.
Notice that even our language communicates this about money. Currency shares its root with current, from the Latin currere, to run, to flow. Money was never meant to sit still and be hoarded; it is a current. We speak of cash flow and liquidity and of frozen assets for money that can’t move. We store it in a bank — the very same word English uses for the edges that hold and shape a flowing river. The entire vocabulary of money is the vocabulary of water. And what does water do when you wall it off and refuse to let it flow? It goes stagnant.
Scarcity is a frequency — the belief that there is not enough — not enough money, not enough love, not enough time — and so I must clutch what little I have. But clutching is the very posture that stops the flow.
Abundance is a frequency – the belief that there is more than enough. It is the lived sense that Life is for me, that the Universe is generous, that what I need will find me if I am willing to live in the flow of it.
A Journey from Materialist to Spiritualist
This idea is, of course, what every spiritual system points to, yet it seems like an absurd concept in the hyper-material world we live in. But this has been my lived experience over the past seven years and now it has become my way of Being.
Seven years ago, my entire identity had been making money and accumulating wealth. I had a career that paid me extremely well and I had more money than I knew what to do with, but it was never enough. No matter how much I had it could never bring me the peace and happiness I was looking for, but instead brought me stress, anxiety, depression and it ultimately ended in an addicted bottom where I was forced to change or die. This was the frequency of scarcity for me.
By Grace I knew that I needed to change my posture toward life from scarcity to something else if I wanted to heal and not end up on the same path that almost killed me. If I wanted to become a better father to my children, I needed to do something entirely different. So, I took a leap of faith and followed the path of abundance that is suggested in all the spiritual teachings. I turned away from the money and toward my heart, into a life of helping others heal. And if I am honest with you — and I try to always be — I operate at a break-even level at best in this capacity.
But this is not where the story ends. Not even close.
I can tell you now, with seven years behind me, that abundance has found me in almost every corner of my life — in my relationships, my health, my purpose, my peace. And yes, in ways I genuinely cannot explain with any linear logic, that abundance has included money. Significant abundance. Profoundly. It arrives through doors I never knocked on. It shows up right-timed, again and again, until I have had to surrender my old ideas of what money is entirely.
This is my lived experience, and it lines up precisely with what the spiritual teachings have always said: that frequency is an attractor pattern. Like attracts like. The frequency of fear and scarcity calls in more of the same. And the frequency of unconditional Love — of trust, of gratitude, of selfless service — calls in abundance across the board. I do not chase it. I become the frequency, and it comes home to me.
For several years there was nothing to show for it. Just faith, patience, and a deep trust in the Universe. I held the posture before I had a shred of physical evidence for it. Call it fake it till you make it if you like — but with one non-negotiable condition: I had to actually believe it. Not perform it but believe it, in my body and in my heart. And I did.
Here is the part I did not expect. I believed the posture of abundance would bring me peace. That was the whole of my hope — peace. The peace came. And then everything else came too. The rest was a delightful surprise.
So, I will leave you with this. Where in your life are you damming the river? Where are you gripping out of scarcity — with your money, yes, but also with your love, your time, your forgiveness, your praise? What would it be to let go, even a little? To live, today, as though the Universe were generous — because it is?
Open your hands and your heart. Let it flow. Watch what comes home.
From scarcity to abundance and from fear to love,
The Way
