The Andrew Tate Experience: A Reflection of Consciousness

I speak to consciousness continuously in my practice and in my teachings. One of the challenges with this topic is that consciousness, at least in the way I am referring to it, is ineffable. That is, it can’t be properly defined in words as it is a state of Being that transcends existence. It is the state of awareness by which you relate to, what appears, external to you. During a playful discussion with one of my clients, we came up with the “Andrew Tate Map of Consciousness” to help explain the subject. Who is Andrew Tate?

“Andrew Tate is an American and British social media personality, businessman, and former professional kickboxer. He gained notoriety for promoting various positions in the “manosphere community” His controversial commentary has resulted in his expulsion from various social media platforms and concern that he promotes misogynistic views to his audience” - Wikipedia

Andrew Tate is a well-known and polarizing figure. He is triggering and controversial. That is what is symbolically important for this exercise. My client absolutely detests everything about Andrew Tate so that is why I choose him for this thought experiment. If you have no idea who he is, then some possible substitutes would be, depending on your view of the world, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Klaus Schwab, Ursula von der Leyen, Jordan Pederson, etc. You get the idea. A person that turns your crank.

The Andrew Tate Map of Consciousness:

  • Andrew Tate is evil (he is Hitler, he is a Nazi, etc. etc.) and so is anyone that associates with him. I am “good”. It is black and white. Case closed.

  • Andrew Tate’s ideas are morally bankrupt and anyone that agrees with his views is also morally bankrupt.  I am morally superior to these people. Case closed.

  • I disagree with Andrew Tate’s ideas, but I have empathy and understanding for his point of view and how it could appeal to people of different backgrounds and experiences than myself.

  • Although I disagree with most of Andrew Tate's views, he has some ideas that I really connect with. I will try to be open and not throw the baby out with the bath water.

  • I don’t understand why Andrew Tate has these views, and I am even more perplexed by why he has so many followers, but I am curious to learn more.

  • Why does “an Andrew Tate” exist today? What is happening within our society that gives rise to such a polarizing figure? What do I not understand?

  • If Andrew Tate is the solution then what is the problem?  I will try to see situations differently in order to expand my subjective understanding of reality and my place in the world.

  • The world needs Andrew Tate because he is the balancing of an equilibrium. There is no day without night or good without evil. It is Ying and Yang.

  • Andrew Tate is part of an awakened process that the Universe has created for my benefit.

  • Andrew Tate is simply a reflection in a mirror. The shortcomings I see within Andrew Tate are insights into my own character. I created him to see myself.  I am grateful.

  • I am Andrew Tate. I am the only One here.

Take your own polarizing figure and be honest with where you land in this map. Awareness is the key that unlocks everything. From that awareness try and move up one notch in consciousness (down on the list) and see how that new world view fits as you try and embody it. Rinse, lather and repeat.
